Use your camera to magnify small text, see object details, or zoom in on faraway text like street signs or restaurant menus behind a service counter. Search for words before or after you take a picture to find what you need on a menu, a departure board, or anything containing text. Apply visual effects to make low contrast text more visible. In low light environments brightness is automatically adjusted. You can also take photos and zoom in as much as you need. Get started: 1. Download Magnifier from the Play Store. 2. (Optional) Set up Magnifier to easily open via Quick tap: a. Open your phone's Settings app. b. Go to System > Gestures > Quick tap. c. Turn on Use Quick tap. d. Choose open app. Next to "Open app," tap Settings. Then select Magnifier. e. To open Magnifier, tap twice on the back of your phone. Magnifier requires Pixel 5 or later model.

I just downloaded this app and quickly tried it. In that short time, I have to say that it's the best magnifier I've used yet. It focuses quickly, the enhanced view is very nice, and I love the various colored contrasts like yellow on black, black and white or yellow/blue etc. making it easier to read. The flashlight works very well with this app also. It will be great for reading price tags, restaurant menus, grocery boxes and more. I am very happy with this app! Thank you Google!

Great magnifier without ads. I've been using another magnifier but the ads became annoying and was not worth the cost to remove them. This app fills the gap.

this app is great for viewing stuff live but I wish I could use its zoom and filter features on photos I took with the normal camera app. like if I took a picture quickly of the menu at a restaurant. having to start with this app to use it on an image is a limitation for sure, but the photos app doesn't have the same nice zoom and filter options this has. let us open existing images with Magnifier and we'll get the best of both worlds :-)

This is (ahem) magificent. I'm glad to have it. With it, I can read fine print, or (on a Pixel 7 Pro) zoom across the room to read a sign on the wall in a busy pub ("Ah, *that's* what the specials are!"). I have it set up so two taps on the back of the phone open the magnifier, and I use it nearly every day.

the good and bad... I choose Google apps to avoid the risks of third party apps and for the smooth integration with my pixel phones. unfortunately, after adding a button in my pull down quick setting tiles to make it easy to access, the tile fades out and stops working. Not sure why, but it makes quick access to the app a much slower process. - hence the bad.

Would be nice if this was available for the P9PF. Not exactly sure why it isn't. Other than not being accessible to all "Pixel 5 & newer phones" as stated it's a great app.

I discovered this app through the accessibility options on my Pixel 7. I have been using my camera as a magnifying lens for years. This app elevates the camera by leaps and bounds as a standalone magnifier. It's perfect for the tiny print I can't see and for things I cannot reach. I love that it's an official Google app like others I trust.

As a person who was walking around the house using a magnifying glass from time to time, I find this to be adequate. it does what it's supposed to and more. I've used it for different things such as taking pictures with my pixel phone as well as other things besides reading, directions and Etc, a flashlight function works great. you're trying to read even if it's dark. I have no problems with it

Although this app works for it's intended purposes, using the standard Camera app works just as well for me. Some reviewed that this app is clearer than the default Camera app, but for on my device this app fails to auto focus. Camera app always focuses for me, so thanks for the idea, but I'll keep the space used by this for something else.

I couldn't see the use vs just the camera, but played a bit and think I get it now. In a lit room it seemed the same. However, in the dark I could see things in this app that wouldn't be seen on camera without light or taking a photo then looking at it in Google photos (more files to delete, just to see/read something), since I can't use flashlight app w/camera. Might be useful just walking when it's so dark you can't see. Maybe; haven't tested that yet.🙂 Dark restaurant menu next. 🤞🏽

Great app for helping me read the ingredients of foods and shampoo bottles, especially on non-UK products as they tend to use far smaller text. I had been using the camera app but this is just easier. The surprising thing is that the reviews on Play for the app seem to be positive rather than haters who don't understand how to use the app.
